Sora alternative
Open-weight models From $20/mo Unlimited API included

The Sora alternative for life after the shutdown

OpenAI has discontinued Sora. If it was part of your workflow, you need two things: your library out, and a new home for the work. Sogni runs open video models credit-free under a flat fair-use plan—and because the covered models are open-weight, no single vendor can sunset them out from under you.

Open-weight models · Fair-use Unlimited · API included · Cancel renewal anytime

Do this first

Export your Sora library before evaluating anything

OpenAI provides a data-export flow at sora.chatgpt.com/sunset ↗, with exports delivered as an emailed archive from sora.chatgpt.com/exports/me ↗. Content that is not exported is subject to permanent deletion under OpenAI's stated timeline—check OpenAI's help center ↗ for the current cutoff.

Export three things: your generations, the prompts and settings behind the ones you'd re-create, and any source images used for image-to-video work. Prompts and source frames are the portable assets—you'll reuse them directly on whatever platform you choose next.

The migration map

Where Sora workflows go on Sogni

Map the work, not the brand. Different jobs migrate to different models—and one honest row below says “no equivalent.”

You used Sora for On Sogni Notes
Text-to-video clips LTX-2.3, covered by Unlimited Up to 4K 24fps or 1080p 60fps with native audio, up to 20s per clip
Image-to-video LTX-2.3 or WAN 2.2, covered by Unlimited Reuse your exported source frames directly
Character and subject continuity WAN 2.2 Animate Replace; Seedance 2.0 reference assets (pay-as-you-go) Seedance restricts reference images of real people
Frontier "hero shot" quality Seedance 2.0, pay-as-you-go Spark with member discount Honest note: no model on Sogni is Sora 2—different families, different looks
API and automation Sogni SDK + REST API, included with Unlimited Covered open-model jobs stay credit-free under fair-use rules
The Sora social feed and cameos No equivalent Sogni is a creation platform, not a social feed

“Unlimited” on Sogni means credit-free fair-use access to supported open models—active job limits, queues, and daily throttle resets apply, and proprietary partner models like Seedance 2.0 use pay-as-you-go Spark. Not infinite, instantaneous GPU capacity.

The honest trade

What you're replacing—and what you're not

What you gain

A workflow no vendor can revoke

  • Open-weight video models—this migration is your last forced one.
  • A flat $20 fair-use plan instead of metered per-second generation.
  • Images, music, and open language models under the same subscription.
  • An included SDK/API to rebuild your automation on.
What you give up

The things that were Sora's alone

  • Sora 2's specific look, physics, and cinematic coherence.
  • The social feed and cameo culture around the app.
  • Anyone claiming a drop-in Sora replacement is selling something.

What you can replace is the workflow: text-to-video and image-to-video at quality that ships client work, under pricing that doesn't meter your iteration.

No fine-print magic

What credit-free fair use actually means

Covered Sogni jobs do not consume Spark or SOGNI per render. Shared capacity still has physical limits, so the base plan publishes practical concurrency and queue controls.

4 active image jobs
1 active video job
128 media items queued

Active-job limits, queue management, and anti-abuse controls prevent one account from monopolizing the community GPU network. Very heavy sustained use can receive lower priority during peak demand, and heavy-use throttles reset each UTC day. Priority jobs and proprietary partner models—GPT Image 2, Seedance 2.0, HappyHorse 1.1—use separately purchased Spark with a member discount.

Need more throughput? Unlimited Pro raises the published limits to 16 active image jobs, 4 active video jobs, and a queue of 512, with higher-priority queue placement.

A practical migration test

Re-create three Sora shots before you commit

Decide before September 24, while your API integrations still run and you can compare side by side. The right metric is time to first usable output.

01 / PICK

Choose three exported shots

One text-to-video, one image-to-video, one character or continuity shot.

02 / RE-CREATE

Bring prompts and frames

Run the first two with LTX-2.3, the third with WAN 2.2 Animate Replace or Seedance 2.0. Expect to adapt prompt style between model families.

03 / MEASURE

Count iterations to usable

Record time to first usable output and attempts, not just raw speed.

04 / DECIDE

Judge against your delivery bar

Pick your next platform on evidence—while you can still compare.

FAQ

Migrating from Sora

When is Sora shutting down?

OpenAI discontinued the Sora consumer app and web experience on April 26, 2026. The Videos API and the sora-2 model family are removed from the API on September 24, 2026, per OpenAI's developer deprecation notice.

How do I export my Sora videos?

OpenAI provides an export flow at sora.chatgpt.com/sunset, with exports delivered as an emailed archive from sora.chatgpt.com/exports/me. Export both your generations and your prompts before OpenAI's stated deletion deadline—check OpenAI's help center for the current cutoff.

Which Sogni model is closest to Sora 2?

None is identical—different model families produce different results. LTX-2.3 is the closest covered open model for general text-to-video and image-to-video, up to 4K with audio. For frontier quality on specific shots, Seedance 2.0 is available pay-as-you-go.

Can I migrate my API integration?

Sogni Unlimited includes SDK and REST API access, and covered open-model jobs remain credit-free under fair-use rules. Test your pipeline during the trial before September 24 so you can run both side by side.

Does Sogni have a feed like the Sora app?

No. Sogni is a creation platform with web, Mac, and iOS apps and an API—there is no social feed. If the Sora feed was your main use, Sogni replaces the creation workflow, not the community.

Why won't this happen again on Sogni?

The models covered by Unlimited are open-weight (LTX, WAN, the open image catalog). Open weights can't be revoked by a single vendor's product decision, and Sogni's catalog is plural by design. Proprietary partner models are clearly marked pay-as-you-go, so you always know which kind you're depending on.
